This week in Florida Today:

Headline - "County tax value falls 7.1%"

Jim Ford, Brevard Property Appaiser attributed the fall to the voter approved Amendment 1. No where in the verbage of the article did it compare the values with the past few years. They did however, print an insert with the the values broken down by year: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & projected 2008 and also into each City and School District which is interesting. This information was obtained from the Brevard County Property Appraiser.

The tax values in total for Brevard County per year are:

2004: $25.29 bil

2005: $31.03 bil

2006: $39.31 bil

2007: $40.93 bil

2008*: $38.03 bil (preliminary)

% Increase from 2004: +50.4%

% Change from 2007: -7.1%

The bottom line is that the values increased over 50% in the previous 4 years and fell just 7% in the past one year.

If you would like more information on each city/town or school district, please email.
