While waiting for the final figures from February Sales (which will show another increase) lets take a look back at the January numbers for existing home sales in Brevard County.

In January of 2008 there were 258 sales of existing homes. In January of 2009 the number of sales was 377. That is an increase of a whopping 46%.

Statewide in January of 2008 the number of sales was 6,810. January of 2009 had sales statewide of 8,450. That is an increase of 24%.

The median price of homes has fallen considerably. In Brevard the median price fell 32% while statewide the median price fell 33%. So although the price drop for homes was about equal, here in Brevard the percentage of homes sold was almost double.

Our inventory of homes is lower than it has been in the past, buyers are looking (and buying) and the days that a home is on the market is shrinking when priced at market value.
