The legislature voted on a $12 billion dollar property tax relief bill which will go before the voters on January 29th.

What it does:

1. It will double the $25,000 homestead exemption for homesteaded property valued over $50,000.

2. Portability - homesteaders will be allowed to take up to $500,000 in their Save Our Homes protection with them when they move.

3. Commercial and Non-Homesteaded property will receive a 10% cap on taxes, similar to Save Our Homes.

Although it was a bitter battle between House & Senate this compromise does address some of the property tax issues we have faced.

60% of the voters must approve the legislation for it to pass. Vote "Yes" at election time!
